Total Eclipse 2024

Road trip to San Antonio, TX 2024

First stop El Dorado, KS

Enjoyed having the pool all to myself to stretch out after 9 hours in the truck
Enjoyed the best burgers ever at BUrger CO.
Gal at hotel clued us in on the best eats and she was spot on.
Chatted with the owner and he had relatives in Ait
ken, MN and visits often - lol

Arrived at the Cybulski's late afternoon April 7, a little cloudy but warm - woohoo!
They treated us to authentic Mexican cuisine at Aldaco's ~ Gracious!

APRIL 8, 2024 • Eclipse day!

We found a area off the beaten path in San Antonio right by Jones Cemetery

oohhh,  awww

Sadly it was too cloudy, only caught a few glimpses

Afterwards we walked around Guadalupe River State Park, Spring Park, TX

APRIL 9
Visited Gruene for shopping and lunch at Mozie's then
hiked around Canyon Lake.
Day started off overcast, breezy and ended hot & sunny 88°

Best Reuben ever at Mozie's

Overlook Park

Canyon Lake, TX. No sand on this beach!

Back at the Cybulski's

Cheese!
Scott chilled out in the pool & later we fed deer
in their neighborhood which I can't get enough of!

APRIL 10
Natural Bridge Caverns, San Antonio

It was a lot to take in, everything looked like a movie set to me, not real.
180 feet below surface, 70° but 99% humidity. Ew.
Was well lit and our guide of over 1 hour was great.
Met two old guys that travel the world visiting caves and this is the
second largest they've seen, #1 being in South Africa.
Also mentioned was more impressive than the cave at the Four Corners, U.S.
We then headed to Screaming Goat & Tap, Spring Branch
hello, GOATS!!
We shared a House Board (loved it all, they make 3 different sausages),
pickled okra, beans, pretzel w/beer cheese and a
half Muffuletta Sandwich which was huge and stuffed with goodness! YUM!

The goats were adorable and entertaining.
I just want to hug this one!
this fella into salt more than me!

APRIL 11
Goodbye TX

So long for now San Antonio ~

Our first visit to a Buc-ee's in Fort Worth. Oh my! 100+ gas pumps & 40+ restrooms.
It really did live up to the hype! Jerky, sandwiches, tacos, burritos, donuts, fudge, nuts, preserves, booze, gifts, you name it they have it!
The brisket sandwich was awesome.

Then we headed for a visit to Scott's cousin
Michelle on her 130 acre homestead in Purcell, OK
Enjoyed an authentic mexican dinner at Bravo's

Duke & Poppy • Michelle has 7 dogs, 7 horses, 28 horses total w/boarding & training

APRIL 12 •  Liberty, MO

Visited Stocksdale Park which covers 112-acres with great walking trails.
Scott played the Bad Rock Creek disc golf course

3 Halves BBQ
Ribs, burnt ends brisket, cheese curds, mac n'cheese, wasabi coleslaw -
